What time should I arrive?
We’re so glad you asked! Please arrive no earlier than 4 pm and no later than 4:30 pm. The ceremony will begin promptly at 5 pm. The Florence Griswold Museum has kindly opened its grounds to all guests attending the wedding. We strongly encourage guests to arrive on the earlier side for the opportunity to take a walk through the museum and gardens.
What is your definition of elevated formal attire?
We enjoy dressing up for big events and invite you to as well! Get fancy for the occasion in your formal suit or floor-length dress. Please keep in mind this is not a black tie event. Looking for inspiration? Here is our vision of Elevated Formal.
Where will the wedding be held?
Weather permitting, the ceremony and cocktail hour will be held outdoors. For those wearing heels, please be mindful of the grassy and gravely nature of the venue. The reception will be held in a tented area with wood floors.
Will transportation be provided?
We have arranged a shuttle bus to pick up and drop off guests at the following locations and times:
Pick Up:
3:30 pm: Guest shuttle departs The Griswold Inn
4:10 pm: Guest shuttle departs The Saybrook Point Resort & Marina
Drop Off:
11:10 pm: Guest shuttle departs wedding at The Florence Griswold Museum to The Saybrook Point Resort & Marina and The Griswold Inn
1:00 am: Guest shuttle departs after party at The Side Door Jazz Club to The Saybrook Point Resort & Marina and The Griswold Inn
Please note that there will be no organized transport at The Old Lyme Inn as it is directly across the street from The Florence Griswold Museum and attached to The Side Door Jazz Club.
If you are not staying at one of the hotels, we recommend considering rideshare or taxi services. Alternatively, guests staying near Old Saybrook or Essex can rendezvous at either The Saybrook Point Resort & Marina or The Griswold Inn for transportation to and from the wedding. There will be no organized transportation on Friday evening, so please plan to drive or utilize Uber/Lyft.
Is there a hotel block available?
We’ve reserved a hotel block at The Old Lyme Inn for our out-of-town guests, which is perfectly situated across the street from our wedding venue, The Florence Griswold Museum, and connected to our after party venue, The Side Door Jazz Club. Don’t forget to mention “The Berry Wedding” when booking!
Do you have Airbnb or Vrbo recommendations?
We recommend that all guests interested in booking through Airbnb and Vrbo to narrow their search in the downtown Essex or Old Saybrook areas. That way, you can utilize our shuttle bus service at The Griswold Inn or The Saybrook Point Resort & Marina to and from the wedding.
Will parking be available?
For those who choose to drive, parking is available at The Old Lyme Beach Club and The Florence Griswold Museum.
Are phones or cameras allowed during the ceremony?
We've hired a photographer and videographer to capture our special day. With that, we’re asking for a fully unplugged ceremony. Please refrain from all electronics until cocktail hour.
Can I bring a plus one?
Your invite will include the names of the guests invited to the wedding. We kindly ask you to not bring anyone who isn’t listed. Thank you for understanding!
Can I bring my little one?
Unfortunately, as much as we'd love to invite all of our friends' children, we can only accommodate a few of our young relatives. We hope that you will understand this decision and that you will still be able to join us on our special day!
